The wonderful world of Chai Baocheng
Tianjin (Tiensin) , ford ofl Heaven river, is the third city of China for importance, it is located south to Beijin and it is its harbour. In this city lives Mr. Chai Baocheng, an industrialist who made his fortune building heaters.He built his majestic garden in an area of 14 hectars using about 4000 stones of 200 different types making the biggest collection among the gardens.About 600.000.000 RMB ( 60.000.000 euros) has been invested to collect rare stones, ancient trees, flower, patios, paths, bridges, ponds, fishes, rare birds, antiques objects and many more.It is a site that merge the old with the modern, the work with the hobby, the production ability with a service to the tradition and the art of clever industrals.

Baocheng told me that this passion born in 1999 when in autumn he was flying on business and listened two passengers, one was recounting to have sold abroad, in Japan, an antique Lingbi stone considered a "first class" in China. This drew his attention awondering how was possible to let national treasures to be sold abroad. He decidec then to build a garden of rare stones so that the national treasures could be collected and exhibited increasing the cultural level of its factory.

He began to travel from north to south, both the day and the night. Smiling he says that if he knows there is a beatiful stone somewhere, he is not able to sleep until he succeed into buying it, so in few years his dream became a reality. This cause some troubles both with his family and his workers, all agaist his idea, ma when a dream is A DREAM nothing can stop a man.

In his collection you can find: Lingbi, Tahiu, Gobi, Laibin, Sanjiang, coloured stones, Dahua, and many more. uncountable the shapes: human figures, animals, birds, spiritual subjects, all full of strenght and rytme. Some stone decribe green and prosperous forests, other ancient tales of China including profound and lovely sentiments. Some other includes phylosofical teories making the observer thinking. As Chai says, from his high sensitivity, they are magic, beautiful, excellent anda rare, with the power to catch the observer. A statement says: you can fulfil your dream in the rare stone garden by observing the past events in the ancient forest.

This garden and his collection got six world records:

- The biggest forest of Lingbi stones containing about 200 mu, including ancient stones, ancient trees and old buildings.

- The Baocheng museum lay in an area of 2234 square meters, built as the old chinese dwellings. It is possible to see more than 300 old and high quality Lingbi, the biggest collection up to now.
There is the room of fossils, gathering important finds as the Jade treeand the Sinornithosaurus. There is the Stalactites room with a diorama of a natural environment. there are 20 stones form Han age, from 202 b.C. to 220 a.C., antique pottery, bronz pottery, terracotta armies form the tombs, old furnitures, scrolls, paintings, the millennium carved "canfora" tree which cover a whole room, and many more valuables objects covering hundreds of years of the story of this incredible country.

- The number one of jade trees in the world, a rarity in fossil trees. The development process required among 150 and 180 years and it is an exceptional event that a fossil wood has been transformed nearly totally in jade. This tree is 20 meters long. Up to now it is the best find of this kind with uncountable value both from econonomical and scientific point of view

- The cultural stone gallery: about 101 meters long where on white marble, storie of the most important Chinese collectors are carved, a travel of 2000 years

- The Lingbi stone with carved signatures and writings of famous people: an artist has been commisioned to carve this enormous stone with writings and seals of the most importantstone lovers of China. In this culture the poems about stones cover an important place and to be carved into a stones represent the strong link with the human thoughts.
